Generation Q

Happy Day!!!! I am a cover girl! In June I did a photoshot at my house for Generation Q.... My wonderful family helped me photograph on short notice! I can't thank my mom and husband enough for dropping everything they had going on to help me.

Melissa did an amazing job on the article! She really listened to me and captured my world. Thanks Melissa!

Wish in the studio...

I have been locked up in the studio for the past couple days. This morning I figured I needed to go to the gym and get out of the studio. Granted I took my iPad and worked while I was working out! Sometimes I just need to get things off my plate....
On my way home I stopped at the shop to pick up my bolts of Wish!!!!
With all this lovely fabric filling my space I think it is time for some of it to go to a good home. GIVEAWAY TIME!!!!
How about some cotton bundles, voile bundles and some knit with the Jillie wrap skirt or Lanie wrap dress pattern?
I will not get a chance to cut it up until next week...leave me a comment on the blog and I will put you in the running for some Wish fabric....
I will have the kiddos draw names...

QuiltCon and five things you may not know about me...

I am thrilled to be a teacher at the first QuiltCon in Austin, TX. I hear it is an amazing city and I am so excited to experience it. If you are going to in Austin I am also doing a meet and greet at a great shop called, Remnants. I am stoked to help out my friend and owner of the shop Jessica Sloan.
QuiltCon is doing a link party to get us all connected... Share a photo and five things people may not know about you.
1. I was born on my brother's fourth birthday... He is still a little bitter and I turn 40 this year.
2. In my 20's I used to do a ton of rock climbing and now have developed a slight fear of heights.
3. I studied photography in college and am a self taught fabric designer of 14 years.
4. I collect boxes and containers... Totally fascinated by them.
5. I love to kickboxing and mixed martial arts and secretly would love to fight in a ring.....

Have a great day!!!

Last summer one of the editors of Patchwork Tsushin came to our annual Sisters Outdoor Quilt Show and our studios. I just received my copy in the mail. Too cool!!!
We are slowly starting the process of setting up the shops again. Waiting for paint to dry. Tomorrow and Saturday are going to be long days.... But I am so excited to put it all back together.
Have a great day!!!

Happy New Year!!! I hope your year is filled with love and happiness!
We are having a very cold day. There is a temperature inversion which causes such beautiful frost on the trees. I have to say the spider web was a awesome find, so cool!
I am very happy to be indoors and sew. Working on a new quilt....great way to start my year!

Oh Yeah.....somedays I wonder about the internet and how much we rely on it. When my connection is bad I can't seem to do anything. I am going to have to have an electrician come and hard wire the internet to my studio. Trying to use WiFi is not working.

Have a great Sunday!

Girls Art Retreat

I am taking my dear girlfriends to our family cabin in Camp Sherman for a weekend art retreat. I am so excited..... I love, love, love planning things like this. Just us.... Food, wine, art, the river, time to just be!

I've been packing and planning for weeks. We meet tomorrow night.... There is no cell service or Internet.... Just an old rotary phone, not even a cordless phone! The cabin is very rustic a little wonky in areas but so well loved and full of memories.
I feel like we need to have times like this with our girlfriends to rejuvenate. As much as summer is a crazy time school can be too. When it worked out that all five of us could do the same weekend we had to. I know I will be inspired and ready to roll on the rest of the market prep I need to do.

Living is Sisters has its perks.... One being the amazing teachers in our schools. Even with all the budget cuts and CRAP they have to deal with they want the BEST for our kids. This year our Elementry school went to combined classes.... First and Second grade classes and Third and Fourth grade classes. They are mixed for home room but go to grade level reading and math classes. I wasn't too sure about this arrangement but it has been amazing. Olivia has three teachers that she gets to know and learn from as well as the music, art and PE teachers. She has been able to grow so much with the help of all the teachers. We had a conference with her home room teacher and two of the reading teachers this week to find the best class for her in reading. They were so amazing, they want her to succeed and be confident and were willing to listen to our concerns. I was just so happy to know that these are the people that Olivia is spending so much of her young life with. I think the best reward is that in a couple of days I see a change in my little girl. In gratitude I made them little journals......
